'No-Helmet' To Attract Penalty On Flyovers In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Khurda Collector BS Poonia on Monday issued a directive which stated that two-wheeler riders need to use helmets which plying on the flyover between Rasulgarh and Khandagiri square.

Poonia's order came after the District Road Safety Committee meeting held here today. At the meeting the officials made an assessment on the number of accidents which occurred on the Rasulgarh-Khandagiri stretch in the past one year.

Not using helmet was one of the major reasons behind fatalities in these mishaps. "Bike riding without helmet has been restricted on the over-bridge. Any deviation from the order will attract proceeding in accordance with law," the order stated.
