Puri: As the curtains of the world’s largest open air theatre Dhanu Yatra fell down on the auspicious occasion of Pausa Purnima (Monday) marked by the assassination of the demon king Kansa, the protagonist, played by actor Bhubaneswar Pradhan, is now on a visit to Jagannath Dham Puri to perform penance and penitence.

Talking to media, he said, “The 11-day long diktat of demon king Kansa came to an end on Monday when he was assassinated by Lord Krishna. Now, I have headed straight to Puri Dham in bid to meed Jagadguru Sankaracharya and beg forgiveness for having chastised Lord Krishna during the dialogue deliveries during these days. After that, I will take a holy dip at the Mahodadhi (sacred sea-cum-holy abode of Lord Vishnu) which would purge me physically and mentally of the mundane murmurings and misdemeanor during the performance.”

After the purgation, Bhubaneswar Pradhan will have a darshan of all merciful Lord Jagannath to ask for forgiveness.

Dhanu Yatra features mythological tales of ‘Krishna Leela and Mathura Vijay’. While Bargarh town turns tyrant Kansa’s kingdom Mathurapuri, Hatapada here features as his Raj Darbar (royal court).

On the other hand, Ambapalli, situated on the other side of river Jeera here, features as Gopapura, kid Lord Krishna’s nativity.

The beginning day of the mega cultural extravaganza began with the wedding of Kansa’s sister Devaki with Basudev.
