Bhubaneswar: While 12.45 lakh beneficiaries of Odisha Government’s “KALIA” (Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation) have received their first installment of financial assistance on January 25, the same will be provided to the landless farmers on February 15.

This was informed by State Agriculture Principal Secretary Saurabh Garg today at the State Secretariat here soon after a high level review on it.

Talking to media, the Agriculture Principal Secretary informed, “Today we held a review of Phase II. We reviewed today on the position of the landless agricultural labourers. In the Phase I, around 4-5 lakh landless agricultural labourers will be provided Rs 5,000 financial assistance on February 15. They are entitled to Rs 12,500 livelihood support each. The balance amount will be given away as per a time table prepared by us.”

He added, “Besides, the small and marginal farmers will get in the Phase II. Their number is around 14 lakh. These beneficiaries will get their assistance by the end of this month, most probably on February 22.”

“I’m, at present, unable to provide the exact figure of the beneficiaries as we are analyzing the bank accounts, eligibility, etc. Thus, the figure may be 4 or 4.5 lakh by February 15 while the figure will be within 14 lakh on February 22,” he clarified.

Accordingly, an amount of Rs 5,000 each will be credited to the bank accounts of around 4.5 lakh landless farmers on February 15 through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode while the same amount of financial assistance will be provided to around 14 lakh small and marginal farmers of Odisha most probably on February 22.
