**Bhubaneswar: ** Odisha Government has decided to provide the requisite monetary assistance to the beneficiaries under the ‘KALIA’ (Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation) Scheme from January 26.
This was informed by Odisha Cooperation Minister Surya Narayan Patro today.
Talking to media he informed that the beneficiaries under ‘KALIA’ Scheme will get monetary assistance from January 26 and the funds will be directly credited to the bank accounts of 12.4 lakh farmers who are already enrolled with Cooperation and have been dealing with farm activities.
He further explained that the farmers who have recently applied for the KALIA Scheme will also get assistance after scrutiny and verification of their application forms.
Notably, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik last month (December 2018) announced this scheme after his Cabinet nodded for the big decision in a bid to benefit the farmers of Odisha.
The scheme will provide financial, livelihood, cultivation support along with insurance support to small, marginal and the landless farmers.
It aims to benefit about 92% of the farmers in the State and the State Government has earmarked Rs 10,180 crore for implementation ‘KALIA’ Scheme in 3 years. It is a package for farmers’ welfare. It has been launched to accelerate agricultural prosperity and elimination of poverty in Odisha.
