'Kalabaisakhi' Expected To Continue Till May 4 In Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) regional office on Tuesday said that Northwester severe rain accompanied by hailstorm and strong gusty winds moving at a speed of 50-60 kmph will continue to lash Odisha till May 4.

The department reported that severe thunder storm and heavy rainfall will occur at different parts of eastern India in the isolated areas comprising Odisha, West Bengal, Bihar and north-eastern states during the next two to three days under influence of strong low level convergence, moisture incursion and presence of jet speed winds in the upper levels.

Isolated thunder squalls with wind speed reaching 45 kmph occasionally along coastal areas of West Bengal and Odisha are also predicted. The fishermen have been advised not to venture into sea.

Earlier, thunderstorm and lightning alert were issued for 11 districts including Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Bhadrak, Dhenkanal, Angul, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Ganjam and Khurda.
