'Intensify Enforcement Measures To Check Illegal Liquor Trade': Odisha Excise Minister

Bhubaneswar: Finance and Excise Minister Niranjan Pujari on Saturday urged upon Excise officers of the State to intensify enforcement measures to prevent or contain ID liquor or spurious liquor or non-duty paid liquor.

While chairing a State Level Excise Officers' Review Meeting at Conference Hall of State Panchayat Resource Centre (SPRC) inside the premises of SIRD, Bhubaneswar, Pujari laid emphasis on effective implementation of Excise Act & Rules through 5T initiative of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

Excise Commissioner-cum-Secretary Sushil Kumar Lohani stressed upon all-out effort to eliminate hemp plant cultivation. He revealed in the meeting that the process of automation of Excise Directorate, development of online modules for all excise transaction online, track and trace system, etc. is now underway on a fast-track mode.

He impressed upon all to deliver public services with utmost promptitude in a responsive, time-bound, hassle-free manner. No effort, he said, should be spared to maximize excise revenue, settle the unsettled shops, intensify enforcement measures and ensure transparency, accountability in due discharge of official duty.

At the end, Lohani summarized the focus area of Government and called upon the Excise officers to devote their heart and soul in implementation of the Government programmes and policies on real-time basis in letter and spirit.
