'Highlander’s Plainspeak: An Administrative Rede’ - Former IAS Officer Taradatt's Book Released

Bhubaneswar: 'Highlander’s Plainspeak: An Administrative Rede’, a book written by former Additional Chief Secretary of Odisha, Taradatt was released at a function here on Wednesday. In the book, Taradatt has elaborated on his journey from childhood to education and as a career bureaucrat. He has highlighted on the nuances of administration and other aspects of the system.

"I have been maintaining a simple and disciplined life since childhood. My day starts at 4 am and I go to bed at 10 pm. I have written about the Departments in which I worked," Taradatt said. "I have never been under pressure while working. The responsibility and expectation to deliver efficiently was the only form of pressure I experienced," he added.

Eminent personalities present on the occasion praised the 1983-batch officer for being a dedicated bureaucrat. Former Chief Secretary JK Mohapatra said, Taradatt, apart from being dedicated and efficient, always had a humane side while discharging his duty.

Editor Sambad and Khandapada MLA, Soumya Ranjan Patnaik said, new entrants into bureaucracy should surely read the book and understand how much effort it takes to be a good officer in the system. "Taradatt has an excellent memorising power and believes in details which are so much important to be a good and efficient IAS officer," said Patnaik.

"Taradatt has elaborated on his childhood very lucidly. He has taken the difficulties of his childhood positively. There were also financial problems during his higher education. He volunteered for proactive administration which is an excellent quality of an administrator," said former State Election Commissioner, SC Hota.
