Puri: As a part of the efforts by the State Government to make Puri the heritage capital of India, a drive named ‘Green Belt Beautification’ has been initiated. Under this initiative, the evicted corridor within 75 metres boundary from the temple will be lined with plants.
Shri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) and State Government have taken up the responsibility of beautification of the temple and its corridor with decorative flower plants. All plants will be kept around the temple, parking area and lined up along the barricading passage.
"Devotees will get a pleasant view of Temple, Nilachakra and breathe fresh air while going for darshan. This will lift up spiritual fervour, apart from keeping the environment fresh and green," Puri ADM Binay Dash said.
"Devotees will get a clear view of the 'Bana'-changing ritual. A proper plan is being chalked out to facilitate the green belt beautification drive effectively," he added. On the other hand, senior servitors, tourists, devotees and Puri locals have welcomed the beautification drive.
