Nearly 27,000 Guest Workers Sent Back Home By Odisha Govt

Bhubaneswar: As of now Odisha Government with the help of district administration has facilitated sending back 26,621 guest workers (migrant workers) to their native States, said an official press release issued here today.

Most of these guest workers were from West Bengal (6,250), Chhattisgarh (3,550), Bihar (3,600), Jharkhand (7,100), Rajasthan (1,000), Uttar Pradesh (1,800), Madhya Pradesh (915), Andhra Pradesh (960), Telangana (550), Maharashtra (350) and Manipur (38), the press release added.

The press release stated that before sending the guest workers buses to be used for their transportation are sanitized. Before they embark on their journey back home they are sensitized on social distancing and use of masks. They are also provided with dry food/food packets, water bottle and masks.

While 6,620 number of guest workers-the maximum have returned to their native States from Sundergarh district, 4,400 have returned from Khordha district, 1,120 from Bolangir, 750 from Bhadrak, 1,110 from Kalahandi, 760 from Malkangiri, 880 from Angul, 1,300 from Rayagada and 800 from Bargarh, the press release said giving a district-wise break-up of the total.
