NCW Slaps Notice On Rahul Gandhi For ‘Misogynistic’ Remarks

New Delhi: Taking suo motu cognizance of the media reports, National Commission for Women (NCW) has issued a notice today to AICC President Rahul Gandhi for his alleged remarks insulting a woman Minster relating to Rafale debate in Lok Sabha.

NCW in its notice to Rahul Gandhi has quoted, “It has been reported that you allegedly said “…… the PM ran away and asked a 'mahila’ - a veiled reference to Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman - to defend him”. Further it has also been reported that you allegedly remarked ‘be a man and answer my question’.”

“The remarks made are extremely misogynistic, offensive, unethical and shows an extreme disrespect towards the dignity and honour of women in general. The Commission strongly condemns such irresponsible and disparaging vim, of persons holding responsible positions,” the notice further mentions.

Also it has been mentioned, “Considering the gravity of the matter, you are hereby required to provide a satisfactory explanation to the Commission on the matter on receipt of this notice.”
