Lok Sabha Elections 2019: Jammu & Kashmir’s Newly Wed Couple Casts Vote In Wedding Attire

18 April 2019

Srinagar: As the second phase of polling for Lok Sabha elections for 11 States and 1 Union Territory are underway, a newly-wed couple from Jammu & Kashmir grabbed eyeballs in the Udhampur polling booth. They had come to exercise their voting rights in full wedding attire.

They had come straight from their wedding venue to cast their vote, just to elect their representative. Holding hands, they were looking adorable and their pictures went viral on the social media.

Here it is worth mentioning that in Jammu and Kashmir, polling is taking place on two seats—Srinagar and Udhampur.

In a similar such incident, another newly-wed bride in Aligarh city of Uttar Pradesh exercised her voting rights before leaving for her husband's house.

Anshu Verma, a resident of Mohalla Kanoon Goyan, got married on Wednesday night and decided to vote before leaving the city on Thursday morning.

In another incident, a  bridegroom voted in the Lok Sabha elections in Maharashtra on Thursday.

The man, in Buldhana district, went to the polling station wearing his wedding outfit, headgear and a pearl-studded necklace.

During elections we get to witness such incidents, which not only surprise us, but also gives us a tint of patriotism and re-inforces faith in the festival of democracy.
