Bhubaneswar: The Kolkata police on Friday conducted raids at two different places. Among one of the locations where the raid was carried out is a company called Angelina Mercantile Pvt Ltd at Salt Lake area.
While earlier reports suggested that CBI’s former interim director M Nageswar Rao’s wife had a stake in the company, the top cop issued a press statement refuting any link with the firm.
Rao explained the ownership details of the company and stated that neither he nor his wife had any connection with the same. He added that details of all of his and his family’s property had been attached in the Annual Property Returns to the government which were available on the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) website.
Rao added that all that is happening appears to be propaganda. In a statement dated, October 30, 2018, Rao had refuted any link with Angela Mercantile Pvt Ltd.
This comes in the wake of Kolkata Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar being summoned by the CBI in Shillong for questioning over the Saradha scam investigation. Kumar had headed the SIT (Special Investigating Team) formed by the West Bengal government to look into the Saradha Scam.
Although, it cannot be confirmed if this action has any links to the ongoing tussle between the Central Bureau of Investigation and the Kolkata Police.
