Bhubaneswar: In wake of the Pulwama terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir which claimed lives of 49 CRPF personnel, cricket fans in India have urged the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to ban foreign players, currently playing in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), from playing the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Some persons including Cricket Club of India (CCI) secretary Suresh Bafna have also urged to denounce matches against Pakistan in the upcoming World Cup scheduled to be held in England in June this year.

Exhibiting strong reaction against the attack, the CCI on February 16 had covered the portrait of former Pakistan captain Imran Khan, who is the present Prime Minister of Pakistan. Further on February 17, the Punjab Cricket Association removed all the photos of the Pakistani cricketers placed on the walls of the I.S. Bindra Stadium (earlier PCA stadium).

Bafna also questioned the silence of Imran Khan after the attack and has also argued that even though CCI is a sports organization but for them, the nation and its interests will always come first.

Even IMG-Reliance, the official broadcaster of the fourth edition of PSL which is currently underway in Dubai, also pulled out on February 17 from the production of the match. However, Managing Director of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Wasim Khan, said that a new broadcaster is likely to be roped in by Monday.
