Bhubaneswar: Cutting short one of the longest Union budget speeches, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s presentation was cut short reportedly after her sugar levels dropped.
After speaking for a record 160 minutes in the Lok Sabha today, FM had just two pages to read when she appeared uneasy and was seen wiping her sweaty forehead.
Subsequently she was offered water and candies by her ministerial colleagues. When that did not help, she requested Speaker Om Birla to consider the last two pages as read. The house was adjourned.
This was the longest Budget speech by any finance minister clocking 2 hours 41 minutes. She broke her own record of a 2-hour-17-minute-long maiden Budget speech in July 2017.
