Bhubaneswar: The Housing & Urban Development has chalked a comprehensive plan to remodel the parks in the Capital City. Addressing a high level meeting here on Tuesday, H&UD Minister Pratap Jena said that all the City parks, including Biju Patnaik Park, Indira Gandhi Park, Mahatama Gandhi Park, Madhusudan Park and Budhha Jayanti Park, will undergo renovation and would be developed as India’s most beautiful parks.
Jena instructed the officials to extend the walking path in the parks to 5-6 feet to accommodate more walkers to use the space. He asked them to plant shrubs in all the parks and assign authorised agencies to do landscaping at the parks. BDA has set a deadline of November 15, 2019 to complete the park modernization work.
Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) officials presented their plans pertaining to park renovation before the minister at the meeting. The parks will have digital boards, sound system, food and beverage kiosk, restaurant, cafeteria, ladies’ corner and other facilities. Forest trail will be introduced at Budha Jayanti Park only, the Minister said.
To popularize yoga and push people towards healthy living, yoga instructors will be available at all parks in Bhubaneswar. Saplings and organic manure will be available for sale at these parks, said Jena.
Weekly events will be organised at the parks with the help of event management companies. Musical nights, art, theatre, children games, community gardening, poetry, film nights and other activities will be organised.
