2 Naxals, Involved In Killing Of BJP MLA, Gunned Down By Chhattisgarh Police

Dantewada:   Two Maoists were killed by the Chhattisgarh police who were allegedly involved in a blast which killed a BJP MLA as he was returning from election campaigning on April 9.

Talking to OMMCOM NEWS, Dantewada SP Abhishek Pallav informed, “At morning 5:05 am, an exchange of fire took place between the district forces Dantewada and Maoists in which two Maoists have been killed. One has been identified as Verghese, who had a reward of Rs 5 lakh on his head. He was a area committee member and was involved in attack on Dantewada MLA Bheema Mandavi. The other Maoist has been identified as Linga, and had Rs 1 lakh reward over him.”

He further said, “One injured Naxal has been apprehended and is being hospitalized now.”

It is believed that they had intentions to install IEDs in Daulikarka village where the encounter between the team of District Reserve Guard and the Maoists took place.

After the encounter the forces recovered the bodies and also seized a .315  bore gun.
